The fishersman’s net – chapter 19 of ‘The Universal Gnosis’

DOWNLOAD THE UNIVERSAL GNOSIS

In the previous chapter dealing with the Gnosis, we had the opportunity to call your attention to the sacred trade exercised by the pupil, the fisherman’s trade, the fishing for men. Our task now is to have you reflect upon the tool of the true worker, the fisherman’s net, so that the sacred trade will stand out in your mind with more clarity than ever before.

The net, in the personality, symbolizes the aural field or the respiration field. In the Spiritual School the net is the symbol of the Continue reading

The miraculous draught of the fishes – chapter 18 of ‘The Universal Gnosis’

DOWNLOAD THE UNIVERSAL GNOSIS

The Holy Language contains a rich variety of stories about fish and fisherman. We read of miraculous draughts of fishes where the nets tear from the great load or of equally miraculous great draughts· where the nets do not tear. At times people are not only given bread to eat but also fish and there are many, especially among the disciples, whose trade is that of fisherman. The disciples are called while they are busy fishing, or working at repairing their nets.

These stories haven been told so frequently and the Continue reading

The glorious resurrection – chapter 17 of ‘The Universal Gnosis’

DOWNLOAD THE UNIVERSAL GNOSIS

With the twelve stanzas of the epic of the crucifixion the pupil ends his journey through the fields of dialectics, on the way to the house of the father. The morning of the resurrection has come and we will now devote our attention to what this glorieus victory in the Gnostic sense signifies for us. We must have a complete survey of what and who rises from the tomb and what the tomb is to grasp all that transpires during the course of the resurrection.

In geographical Jerusalem there is a building called the Continue reading

The descent of the seven rays of the original pranic light – chapter 10 of ‘The Universal Gnosis’

DOWNLOAD THE UNIVERSAL GNOSIS

When the one, indivisible Light of the original prana touches the microcosm of the pupil, we find that this Light is absorbed by the seven aspects of the microcosmic system. As it was explained in the previous chapter, the complete microcosm has seven aspects and each one of these aspects may, in turn, be divided into seven others. So, when we allude to the holy Sevenlight, we mean that the one indivisible Light of the original prana is active in some way in the sevenfold microcosmic system. When this work in the microcosm is completed, the reborn human being holds the seven stars in his right hand. Then all the structures of the microcosm are again in complete harmony with the Light of the original prana and this victory is reflected in the entire system. Continue reading

The Christian Initiation Mystery – Dei Gloria Intacta by J. van Rijckenborgh – Sections 1.1 and 1.2

ORDER DEI GLORIA INTACTA

1.1

Throughout the entire history of mankind, two systems of esoteric development have held the attention of al those who, by reason of a natural bent and an inner urge, desired to walk the path of liberation.

The history of magic shows that in al civilizations the same two systems of magic development were applied. Now both systems were used simultaneously, now successively, as the different periods of culture appeared and disappeared. One system is designated in the Continue reading

Blessed are the pure in heart – The mystery of the Beatitudes, J. van Rijckenborgh

ORDER THE MYSTERY OF THE BEATITUDES

‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’.

When the pupil on the path of the christian mysteries has attained the quality of mercy outlined in our last chapter, he rises to still higher attainment. The next step on the path of attainment is unveiled to his consciousness. In order for you to realize the value of this new step, which is referred to in Christ’s words, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’, we will briefly recall to your consciousness the Beatitude, ‘Blessed are the merciful’. Blessed are the peacemakers – The mystery of the Beatitudes, J. van Rijckenborgh

ORDER THE MYSTERY OF THE BEATITUDES

‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God’.

In reflecting upon this Beatitude, we must again free ourselves from all tendencies of habit. For is it not true that in hearing the word ‘peace’, our thoughts relate to the aspects of peace and peacefulness as they are known, loved and sought after in this world? Are peace and peacefulness not very desirable in a distressing world such as ours? Do we not look forward to lasting peace? And wouldn’t such a peace, with its results, be a state of blessedness for all in many respects? Aren’t our hearts burning with Continue reading

Blessed are the meek – The mystery of the Beatitudes, J. van Rijckenborgh

ORDER THE MYSTERY OF THE BEATITUDES

‘Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth’.

After the construction of the two pillars, the Beatitudes which follow are concerned with the methods by which the work must now be continued in order to achieve victory. Therefore, we think it is useful to repeat here that the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes in particular are designed for those who desire to walk the path of threefold regeneration and who, in fact, have already set their feet positively upon this path. The high intellectual content and certainly also the high spiritual level of people such as Gadal and Garrigou, and many others we talk about in our book, finds its origins in an insatiable thirst for freedom:

    • freedom of thinking, of feeling and acting;
    • freedom of consciousness;
    • freedom also of religious experience and practice.

Gadal remembered a conversation around 1893 with Adolphe Garrigou, already very elderly, that characteristically illustrates this thirst for freedom. Gadal asked the old man why he and his Continue reading
