ORDER THE MYSTERY OF THE BEATITUDES

‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’.

When the pupil on the path of the christian mysteries has attained the quality of mercy outlined in our last chapter, he rises to still higher attainment. The next step on the path of attainment is unveiled to his consciousness. In order for you to realize the value of this new step, which is referred to in Christ’s words, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’, we will briefly recall to your consciousness the Beatitude, ‘Blessed are the merciful’. ORDER THE MYSTERY OF THE BEATITUDES

‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God’.

In reflecting upon this Beatitude, we must again free ourselves from all tendencies of habit. For is it not true that in hearing the word ‘peace’, our thoughts relate to the aspects of peace and peacefulness as they are known, loved and sought after in this world? Are peace and peacefulness not very desirable in a distressing world such as ours? Do we not look forward to lasting peace?
